Authorities have arrested and charged a man accused of downloading more than 26,000 child sexual abuse files from the internet.
Julio A. Fernandez, 39, of Palisades Park, was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with one count each of second-degree possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
During an investigation by cyber crimes detectives, it was alleged that Fernandez used the internet to view, download and electronically store the large quantity of files. He was arrested following the execution of a search warrant on his Palisades Park home.
The materials included both pubescent and prepubescent victims, authorities said.
Fernandez remains in custody at Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing.
