An unmarked King County sheriff’s office vehicle struck and killed a 26-year-old pedestrian Tuesday morning in Monroe, according to police.
A sheriff’s office employee was driving the unmarked vehicle when the employee struck the woman around 6:30 a.m. near the 18800 block of Highway 2, according to a news release from the Monroe Police Department.
The woman was struck in the westbound lanes in an uncontrolled area of the highway. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Monroe police took the vehicle in for examination.
Brandyn Hull, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, declined to comment and deferred to the Monroe Police Department.
