Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday firmly denied claims that he is set to receive the “Veer Savarkar Award,” stating that he neither knew about the honour nor consented to accept it.
In a statement posted on X, Tharoor said he first heard of the award from news reports, not from the organisers. He was in Kerala on Tuesday to cast his vote in the local self-government elections when the information surfaced. “In Thiruvananthapuram, responding to media queries, I clarified that I was neither aware of, nor had accepted, such an award,” he said.
