Jacob Lee Bard has been named as a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting at Kentucky State University on Tuesday.
The shooting , which took place around 3 p.m. at a residence hall in Frankfort, left one student dead and another critically injured.
Scott Tracy, Frankfort's assistant chief of police, said at a news conference Tuesday evening that Bard had been taken into custody and booked on charges of murder and first-degree assault.
Police said he is from Evansville, Indiana, located roughly 150 miles west of Frankfort.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said in a video message posted on X that the shooting "appears to be an isolated incident."
