Rail ticket prices in India remain the most affordable compared to neighbouring and developed countries, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, noting that fares are just 5–10% of those in developed nations. Last year, Indian Railways provided a ₹60,000 crore subsidy to keep passenger transport costs low, ensuring accessibility for citizens.
