A mother of three was offered a free holiday to Thailand on the condition that she smuggled thousands of pounds worth of drugs back to the UK. Mandy Hendry was intercepted by Border Force officers at Manchester Airport earlier this year.
The 35-year-old initially claimed to the officers that she believed there were 200 cigarettes in the large pink suitcase she was carrying. However, as she proceeded through the 'nothing to declare' gate, she confessed: "I actually do have something to declare - I think there is cannabis inside ."
Hendry has since admitted to the fraudulent evasion of the importation of a class B drug, namely cannabis. A court heard that she had recently exited an abusive relationship before she received a suspended sentence .
