Mandi/Shimla (HP), Dec 10 (PTI) Convicted by three courts in a cheque bounce case, an ailing single woman belonging to the low-income group finally got relief as her application for free legal aid to file a special leave petition (SLP) was accepted.

Kusum Sharma, daughter of Sidhu Ram of Sunder Nagar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, was convicted by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sundernagar, in the cheque bounce case and sentenced to nine months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,25,000 on December 31, 2021.

Sharma's plea that one Kamla Devi had taken a blank cheque from her house, misused it and filed a false case under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act against the applicant was not entertained.
