Money Saving Expert (MSE) founder Martin Lewis has shared his top tips how how to slash your yearly energy bills by more than £100 - which includes simple changes such as turning the temperature down on your thermostat.

It comes after Martin Lewis issued an update after plans have been proposed to reduce energy standing charges across the UK. The Government has launched a consultation about the costs of the Warm Home Discount scheme, which was expanded to millions more households earlier this year.

The Warm Home Discount Scheme is a one-off £150 discount off your electricity bill. If you’re eligible, your electricity supplier will apply the discount to your bill - the money is not paid directly to you. The scheme is currently funded through consumers' gas and electricity Standing C
