These are crazy times in higher education, making me grateful to teach at a sane place like the University of Arkansas, not Harvard or UCLA.

I had a reminder of that last week when in these pages, my friend Rob Steinbuch accurately quoted an essay I wrote regarding how some academic fields fail to teach a range of viewpoints, indoctrinating more than educating. To add context, I did not criticize my university, but another.

The title proclaimed "How UCLA Embraced 'Judenfrei': The Willful Ignorance of Fundamentalist Professors." Essentially, a leading university implemented activist demands to bar Jews (unless they denounced Israel) from certain public accommodations including a library.
