Leslie Odom Jr. became a star by shooting Alexander Hamilton.

He originated the role of Aaron Burr, who killed Hamilton in a duel, in the smash Broadway musical named for Burr's nemesis. Since then, Odom’s multidisciplinary career has spanned TV and film, a memoir and multiple albums as a jazz-based singer.

His 2025 Christmas tour, during which he intermingles holiday standards and "Hamilton" hits, stops in New Orleans at the Orpheum Theater on Dec 17 . Tickets are still available, starting at $62 .

In the following interview, lightly edited for length and clarity, the 44-year-old expounds on why he recently returned to “Hamilton,” the most critical decision of his career and his effort to make a movie about Sammy Davis Jr.’s deal with the devil.
