New Delhi: Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has pledged USD 550 million to support the UN’s Global Humanitarian Overview (GHO) — a major 2026 appeal seeking USD 33 billion to assist around 135 million people across 23 humanitarian operations, including programmes for refugees and migrants.

The appeal’s immediate priority is to safeguard up to 87 million people requiring urgent support, for which USD 23 billion is needed. This significant UAE contribution reflects the nation’s consistent commitment to global humanitarian response and its active role in multilateral efforts to protect vulnerable communities affected by crises and disasters.

The pledge also strengthens the UAE’s close cooperation with key UN agencies, including OCHA
