An incident caught on a Ring doorbell camera, appearing to show a Royal Mail postman kick over a rainbow garden gnome, is being treated as a hate crime, police have confirmed.

The footage, captured on Saturday (December 6), also appears to depict the postman knocking over a planter, also containing a Pride flag, after approaching the home to make a delivery and checking no one was watching.

A Royal Mail spokesperson has since confirmed that "the individual was an agency worker, and their contract assignment has been terminated with immediate effect."
