VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. —
Valencia County residents are facing larger property tax bills than normal after the county assessor accidentally listed property values in the billions instead of millions.
Treasurer Ron Saiz stated the 2025 property tax mill rates for Valencia County were determined using an incorrect net taxable value. He said the Local Government Division of the Department of Finance and Administration is worked to correct the mill rates.
Because of a software problem, the corrected bill hasn't been sent out.
County officials say penalties will be waived for property taxes due on Dec. 10.
The county says those with any questions about payments for property taxes should call the county treasurer at 505-866-2090.
