The New York Times food staff has named a Jersey City restaurant's dish as one of the best restaurant dishes they ate across the United States in 2025 .

The dish, lau chingri from Korai Kitchen in Jersey City , was chosen by Ligaya Mishan, a chief restaurant critic for The New York Times, as one of her favorite things she ate this year.

Lau chingri, aka bottle gourd with shrimp, is described by culinary blog Playful Cooking as a "quintessential Bengali dish." Mishan's pick placed this dish among mac and cheese from Texas, blowfish tails from South Carolina, tacos from Los Angeles and more as the country's top restaurant eats.
