ROCKFORD, Ill. — A local resident was arrested after trying to flee sheriff's deputies.

Just after 10:15 p.m. on Monday, Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputies pulled over a vehicle in the area of N. Church Street and Fisher Avenue in Rockford.

The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Magdalena Vazquez of Rockford, refused to provide information. Vazquez then drove off and headed south on Church Street.

Deputies found the vehicle later, crashed into a fence at S. Church Street and Cedar Street.

Vazquez was unhurt in the crash and was taken to Winnebago County Jail.

The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office charged Vazquez with aggravated fleeing to elude, reckless driving, driving on suspended license, and resisting police officer.

Vazquez will be in court at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
