INDIANAPOLIS — A 19-year-old Indianapolis resident has been identified as the student killed in a shooting on the campus of Kentucky State University in Frankfort on Tuesday.
The Franklin County (Kentucky) Coroner's Office said 19-year-old De’Jon Darrell Fox, Jr. was killed in the shooting.
"It appears Mr. Fox succumbed to the injuries sustained in the shooting," the coroner's office said in a statement.
Another student was critically injured in the shooting at a campus residence hall Dec. 9.
The shooting happened around 3 p.m. and was an “isolated incident,” Scott Tracy, assistant chief of police for Frankfort, said during a news conference Tuesday evening. Tracy said police swiftly responded to the shooting.
"There are no active safety concerns on campus at this time,” Tracy said.
