An Orleans religious community at the center of a forced labor lawsuit is now suing the parents of a former child resident who brought the original case, seeking to shift financial responsibility to his mother and father if his claims succeed.
In a complaint filed last month in federal court in Boston, the Community of Jesus Inc. and two affiliated entities named David and Ellen Ortolani, the parents of Oliver Ortolani, 18, who sued the organizations earlier this year .
Oliver Ortolani, now an Idaho resident, alleged in his 2025 lawsuit that he and “several” other minors were forced to perform unpaid construction labor at a performing arts center in Brewster while living with his family on the Community of Jesus property in Orleans.
