The first tournament of the year has arrived for the Lady Spartans basketball team, as they began the Paul Terry Classic against Spring Hill on Dec. 9. After getting off to a 2-0 start, the Lady Spartans couldn’t find their offensive rhythm and lost to Spring Hill 59-48, bringing their record to 2-1.

Coming into the game, the Lady Spartans were coming off a blowout win over Lansing and looked to continue a strong start to the season. The first quarter against Spring Hill started well for them as the teams traded baskets up until the 5:00 minute mark. With the game tied at eight, Spring Hill began to find the weakness of the Lady Spartan defense and exploit it. Spring Hill would get into the paint and go on a 13-3 run to end the first quarter at 21-11.
