TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - One person was hospitalized and a cat was rescued early Wednesday morning after an Apalachee Parkway home caught fire, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.

The incident unfolded just before 1:30 a.m. after firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on Apalachee Parkway, the fire department wrote in a press release Wednesday morning.

Crews arrived on scene to find heavy flames coming from a two-story home, which firefighters said was occupied at the time.

Firefighters then entered the home and located a fire in the second-story living room, the press release wrote.

“A quick interior attack brought the flames under control in about 10 seconds, with full extinguishment achieved within 15 minutes,” TFD said.
