A 16-year-old is now charged as an adult in the drowning of a boy who he allegedly helped push into a river, despite knowing the victim could not swim, TV6 reports .
Jakob Bowerman, 13, died on Aug. 23 after two people allegedly pushed him off a bridge into the Menominee River on Aug. 20.
The teen was charged on Friday with second-degree reckless homicide. Tylor Birch , 21, of Marinette, faces the same charge.
Birch and the teen suspect initially claimed the victim jumped but later admitted to pushing him into the water during “horseplay,” according to court documents obtained by TV6. They allegedly knew Bowerman couldn’t swim. Bowerman’s mother told police that Birch and the teen would bully her son, according to a report from MyUPNow .
