MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Cross Plans Area EMS was named Wisconsin EMS Association’s 2025 EMS Service of the Year, officials announced Wednesday.

The Wisconsin EMS Association says the award recognizes a department’s progress, professional excellence, and deep commitment to the community it serves.

The award comes after Cross Plains Area EMS has dealt with leadership transitions in the past few years, as well as operational and communication challenges that the organization turned into opportunities for improvement.

Officials say that community engagement is a core focus for their department, with EMS providers showing up as familiar faces at community events throughout the Village of Cross Plains and neighboring townships. At these events, the team are known for offering demonstration
