MACON, Ga. — Georgia Power says a new agreement between the utility provider and the Georgia Public Service Commission could mean lower power bills for Georgia residents, if it's approved.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) is set to vote on the agreement on Dec. 19.

Georgia Power announced the "stipulated agreement" on Wednesday, saying that if approved, it will lower energy costs while meeting electricity demand across the state.

They said that this agreement "marks a key milestone" to get around 9,900 megawatts of new resources, which the Georgia PSC has been reviewing since July. If approved, this would mark a large expansion of the Georgia power grid, which some environmentalists have criticized.
