"Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" star Jen Shah was reportedly released from prison Wednesday, after serving just shy of three years for a fraud charge.
Shah, 52, walked free Dec. 10 from a Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, People and NBC report. The reality star had been locked up since February 2023, following a guilty plea for her participation in a long-running nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme. While she had originally been sentenced to over six years, her prison time was later reduced.
USA TODAY has reached out to the prison and Shah's reps for comment.
Shah's updated release date was first confirmed by her manager, Chris Giovanni, to People in November.
"Everyone's very grateful for the [Federal Bureau of Prisons'] decision, especially because it means Jen will be able to reunite with her family for the holidays," he told the magazine. "It's a gift she doesn't take for granted."
Shah, who starred on Bravo's Utah spinoff from 2020-2023, pleaded guilty in July 2022 to defrauding people in a nationwide telemarketing scheme. She entered the plea to a single count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud after signing a plea agreement with prosecutors that carried a recommended sentencing range of 11 to 14 years behind bars.
Shah told a judge that she took part in the telemarketing fraud for nearly a decade, beginning in 2012, which prosecutors said cheated thousands of people, including some over age 55. She said she knew she was teaming up with others to market products "that had little or no value."
"I knew this was wrong and that many people were harmed, and I'm so sorry," Shah told Judge Sidney H. Stein at the time. With her time served, Shah will also have to pay $6.5 million in restitution and forfeiture.
As she leaves detention, Shah is in a "really positive, hopeful place mentally," her manager told People in a Nov. 21 statement.
"She's done a lot of reflecting and real growth during her time away and is genuinely not the same woman as she was before," Giovanni continued. "Her focus is on her family and building a healthier, more grounded life.
"She understands the seriousness of the mistakes she made and is excited to put this chapter behind her so that she can show everyone the woman she's worked hard to become."
