KEOKUK, Iowa ( WGEM /Gray News) - An Iowa mother is facing charges after police say her baby died after being found headfirst and unresponsive in a trash can.
Jaley D. Bush, 28, was arrested Nov. 21 and charged with child endangerment resulting in death, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Lee County Attorney’s Office. Her baby was found unresponsive in a trash can in late January and died less than a week later.
The complaint said Keokuk Police responded to a home Jan. 27 for a report of an unresponsive baby. When officers arrived, they performed lifesaving measures on the baby and made contact with Bush, who allegedly showed signs of being under the influence of drugs.
