The Polar Bear is going to Baltimore. Pete Alonso and the Orioles have agreed to a five-year, $155 million contract, sources told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand and Jake Rill on Wednesday. The team has not confirmed the news.
Alonso opted out of his contract with the Mets following the World Series, becoming a free agent for the second straight offseason. He was ineligible to receive a qualifying offer this year as he was tendered one in 2024. Thus, there is no Draft pick compensation attached to him, or penalty for signing him.
