RICHLAND, Miss. — The Richland Police Department is asking the public for help locating the owner of a rooster found wandering in the city this week.
Officers recovered the bird, described as healthy but confused, after it was spotted roaming in an area of Richland. The rooster was safely secured and is being housed temporarily at the police department.
In a lighthearted post, police said the bird has been “very vocal” and joked that he appeared ready to join the department if not claimed.
Anyone who recognizes the rooster or believes it belongs to them is asked to contact the Richland Police Department at 601-932-3100. Proof of ownership will be required. Police are encouraging residents to share the information to help return the animal to its home.
