The federal government has launched a new regional development initiative aimed at accelerating economic opportunities across the Prairies, with Manitoba positioned as a central player in the plan.

Emergency Management Minister Eleanor Olszewski on Tuesday unveiled the Prairie Partnership Initiative (PPI), a multi-department effort intended to support early-stage projects, attract private investment and strengthen supply chains in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The initiative is grounded in the Building a Green Prairie Economy Act, championed by late Winnipeg MP Jim Carr, and draws heavily on his vision of closer regional collaboration.
