BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. —

A Buncombe County, North Carolina, man has pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office began investigating after receiving a cybertip about child sexual abuse material.

Deputies said the incident occurred in December 2024 in the area of Brent Creek.

On Monday, Micah Lyons was sentenced to two years of supervised probation. He will be required to register as a sex offender.

"The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was a key component to taking this person into custody and the skillset of our Criminal Investigations Division led to this outcome. We will continue to go after and bring justice to those who are committing crimes against children," said Captain Dustan Auldredge.
