TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) - The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Tampa says they have broken up a gun smuggling operation that funneled more than 100 firearms illegally from Florida to Canada.
Charges of conspiracy to traffic firearms, trafficking in firearms, and dealing firearms without a license have been unsealed against two Americans and three Canadians.
The two Americans, Tyler Corbin, 25, of Tampa and Alfredo Santana, 32, of Miami, have been arrested. The indictment also charges Corbin with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
According to the indictment and court hearings, the five trafficked, and conspired to traffic, more than 100 firearms from Florida to Canada in 2023 and 2024.
Of those firearms, 29 were recovered from Canadian crime scenes, including homicides.
