Unemployment in Oregon hit 5.2% in September, according to the report released by the Oregon Employment Department on Dec. 10.

The release of September data was delayed after the historic 43-day federal government shutdown .

Oregon's unemployment rate has continued to increase for much of the past two years.

Oregon’s unemployment rate hit 5% in August , according to the last economic report released on Sept. 17. The national unemployment rate was 4.4% in September and 4.35% in August.

September's Oregon unemployment rate was also the highest rate since the beginning of 2016, excluding the pandemic period.
