This past year featured historic championships and interesting changes in the world of sports.
1Georgia wins back-to-back college football titles
The Georgia Bulldogs displayed one of the most dominant performances in a college football national final game, knocking off TCU, 65-7, on Jan. 9, 2023. The Bulldogs are left out of this season's college football playoff after losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship game.
2Coach Prime in Colorado
A 4-8 finish wouldn't make headlines in most seasons, but Colorado football stole the spotlight in 2023. Deion Sanders was named the head coach, reinvigorated a fanbase and put a downtrodden football program back on the map in his first season at Colorado. For that, the Buffaloes coach was named Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated.
