GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two of the largest workplace furniture companies are now one massive operation.
Steelcase Inc ., founded in 1912 in Grand Rapids, announced this summer it was selling the business to one of its competitors, Iowa-based HNI Corporation .
Both companies announced on Wednesday that the merger is complete. HNI's CEO said the acquisition was "strongly supported" by both companies' shareholders.
