EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Improvement projects at East Grand Rapids' Waterfront Park will be getting a boost thanks to a $500,000 grant from the DNR's Land and Water Conservation Fund.
The projects will enhance 11 acres of natural space around Reeds Lake with a focus on increased accessibility and sustainability. Voters approved a millage in 2021 to support these plans.
The work is now in its second phase, which includes the following projects:
Restoration and enhancement of existing woodlands and wetlands.
Expansion of the existing visitor parking lot.
Construction of accessible trails and boardwalks.
Development of scenic overlook decks.
Creation of an outdoor classroom area and interpretive educational node.
