TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his “Florida First” budget proposal during a news conference in Orlando Wednesday morning.

The $117.36 billion budget proposal is slightly less than the current budget but does not include special projects across the state. DeSantis wants to focus spending on education, transportation, law enforcement, and health care.

Democrats said they expected something more from a governor entering his final year in office.

“I don’t think you’re going to find another state that’s doing more meaningful things on transportation, environment and all these things, and then basically doing it with a stable budget,” DeSantis said.
