It was wet, snowy and slow-going on Toronto and GTA roads Wednesday — and the region can thank visitors from the Prairies for the mess.

Toronto’s unexpected guests, two Alberta Clippers, triggered dozens of collisions, school bus cancellations, TTC delays and mounting slowdowns at Pearson.

By Wednesday evening about nine cm of snow had fallen, and though more was expected, Environment Canada said the worst was over.

“Anybody who left their car out during today and hasn’t brushed it off yet, or hasn’t cleaned off their walkway and the driveway yet, may want to do that in the next few hours,” said Jeff Coulson, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada, adding that temperatures will drop significantly overnight.
