Via Rail passengers on three trains were stranded overnight after one of the trains experienced mechanical problems overnight.

Trains 669, 48, and 54 were “significantly disrupted” for several hours following a mechanical failure on train 669 near Brockville, Ont. The affected trains were stranded for at least seven hours, according t o an update Thursday morning on Via Rail’s real-time train schedule .

Trains 48 and 54 were travelling from Toronto to Ottawa, while train 669 was en route to Toronto from Montreal when it broke down.

According to a statement from Via Rail, several attempts were made to restore Train 669, and crews transferred passengers between trains after multiple unsuccessful efforts to fix the disabled equipment.
