ROSENDALE - Two people were killed and a third was in critical condition following a two-car crash on the thruway shortly before 2 p.m. on Dec. 9.
The crash happened when one of the drivers was trying to make a U-turn, state police said. The crash happened near milepost marker 83, in the town of Rosendale.
State police said a preliminary investigation determined that a 2007 Nissan driven by Guillermo Olivera, 84, of Elizaville, N.Y., was southbound on the Thruway when he entered the U-turn at mile marker 83.
A 2023 Kia was traveling north in the left lane, and it collided with the Nissan as it was executing the U-turn into the northbound lanes.
