MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. — The Mississippi Department of Corrections has announced the addition of a new K-9 to the Marshall County Correctional Facility.

Huk, a 17-month-old Belgian Malinois, recently joined the facility after being obtained through a grant from San Antonio. The department described Huk as highly intelligent, energetic and versatile — qualities for which the breed is widely known.

K-9 Officer Josh Russell is currently in San Antonio completing a two-week handler training course with Huk to prepare the pair for duty at the facility.

“We are proud of both of them in our MCCF family,” Superintendent Frank Caswell said in a statement.

Huk will join the facility’s security operations once training is completed.
