MARICOPA, AZ (AZFamily) — Police in Maricopa say a man was shot and killed after allegedly ambushing his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend in her apartment late Tuesday night.

Authorities said officers were called out just after 11:30 p.m. to a complex off Village Parkway , to the southeast of Smith Enke and Loma roads.

The 911 caller told dispatchers that she had entered her own apartment with her boyfriend to get her belongings. When she entered, the woman said her ex-boyfriend was hiding in the bathroom, against whom she held an order of protection.

Soon after, police said a fight broke out where the current boyfriend shot the ex-boyfriend. That’s when the woman called 911. The ex-boyfriend later died at the apartment. He has not yet been identified.
