A 76-year-old man from Chesterfield died following a crash in Frenchtown Township Wednesday, Dec. 10.

According to preliminary investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Walter Wilhelm, 76, was operating a white 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan in the middle lane of travel on northbound I-75 south of Post Road when he side-swiped a black 2016 Lincoln MKZ in the left lane shortly after noon. Police said Wilhelm's vehicle continued off the freeway and hit the median wall. After the crash, the Lincoln came to a controlled sop within the median.

The occupants of the Lincoln, two 26-year-olds from Westland, were uninjured.
