WASHINGTON — Anti-Trump protestors camped outside Union Station say they are refusing to leave, despite a notice from the National Park Service (NPS) ordering them to clear the area for an upcoming clean-up project in Columbus Circle.
Two groups, For Liberation and Resistance Everywhere (FLARE) and Remember Your Oath, a veteran-led organization, have held permits to demonstrate in the space for several months. Protestors argue their permits remain valid and say it’s unfair for officials to force them out before those permits expire.
U.S. Park Police told demonstrators the area closes daily at 4 p.m. and advised them they will need to vacate the site as construction activity ramps up. Some protestors told WUSA9 they are prepared to be arrested if authorities move in.
