The New York Yankees have checked in with the Texas Rangers about All-Star shortstop Corey Seager, per the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant.
Seager, 31, joined the Rangers ahead of the 2022 season following seven successful seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and continued to thrive after switching to the American League. With the Rangers, Seager has made three All-Star Games and won a World Series — his second.
Through his four seasons in Texas, Seager has slashed .278/.355/.517 with 117 home runs and 303 RBIs. He finished runner-up in 2023 AL MVP voting, when he posted a 7.2-bWAR season with 33 home runs and 96 RBIs.
Now, though, the Rangers are showing interest in unloading some of their more expensive assets, as they have already traded Marcus Semien and non-tendered Adolis Garcia
