LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Car break-ins are on the rise in Louisville, with thieves not only targeting unlocked vehicles but also smashing windows to search for items inside, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Police data shows the number of stolen cars is down 18.4 percent compared to last year, but the number of cars broken into is up by 10.9 percent.
Norton Commons residents say car break-ins have become common in their neighborhood, with some calling for increased police presence.
