WASHINGTON — The U.S. government is preparing celebrations for America's 250th anniversary next summer with a new set of coins.
The United States Mint unveiled the designs for the coins Wednesday night at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The designs commemorate the United States' semiquincentennial milestone and will be displayed on the 2026 dime, quarter, and half-dollar coin.
“The designs on these historic coins depict the story of America’s journey toward a ‘more perfect union,’ and celebrate America’s defining ideals of liberty,” acting Mint Director Kristie McNally said in a statement. “We hope to offer each American the opportunity to hold our nation’s storied 250 years of history in the palms of their hands as we Connect America through Coins.”
