Sam Ehlinger had an interesting start to the week.
The Broncos practice squad quarterback spent about 48 hours after Denver’s win in Las Vegas weighing an opportunity to return to Indianapolis for the stretch run of the season, he told The Denver Post on Wednesday.
Ehlinger said his agent had extensive talks with the Colts after their starting quarterback, Daniel Jones, tore his Achilles on Sunday.
Indianapolis ultimately brought in 44-year-old Philip Rivers for a Monday workout and signed him to the practice squad five years after he last saw live NFL action . Rivers could start as soon as Sunday for the Colts in Seattle.
Ehlinger said he’s happy in Denver with the 11-2 Broncos trying to make a deep run in the postseason.
