Righetti girls basketball team coach Desiree Hitch constantly stresses defense to her squad. Tuesday night, the Righetti defense overwhelmed Nipomo’s offense.

The Warriors kept turning the Titans over in droves. Righetti made 27 steals and came away with a 62-21 non-league win at Righetti.

Both teams are 4-4.

“We lead with our defense,” Hitch said afterward. “I thought our players lacked energy some in the first half, but they picked up the intensity a lot in the second.”

Righetti led 25-14 at halftime. The Warriors forced turnovers on the first five Titans possessions of the third quarter, and that was petty much that as far as the suspense as to the outcome of this one.
