Srinagar, Dec 10: Commuters and residents across Srinagar and other parts of the valley have expressed strong resentment over what they call “exorbitant and unjustified” roadside parking fees being charged by the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL).

Many allege that the parking system introduced as part of the Smart City project has become unaffordable for the common man and is adding to their daily financial burden.

Locals said that SSCL’s pay-and-park facilities charge as high as Rs 70 per hour, a steep rise compared to traditional parking spaces in the city that still charge Rs 20–30 for an entire day.
