US trade representative Jamieson Greer has told a Senate Appropriations Committee on Tuesday that the kind of offers made by India on the trade front are the "best that the US has ever received."
Greer made these remarks in response to a question from Senator Jerry Moran on greater exports of US agriculture.
The remarks come just on the day that a US delegation, led by US deputy trade representative Rick Switzer, is in India for two days of talks and address issues with regards to tariffs.
Greer said that a US team is currently in India negotiating a trade deal. He admitted that India has been a "tough nut to crack" ass there has been resistance to import certain crops, meat and dairy products.
However, Greer also mentioned that India has been quite "forward leaning" in its negotiation
