GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities have charged a Kings Mountain woman with murder for causing someone to die from carfentanil exposure.
Ebone Johnson, 38, is charged with second-degree murder, according to Gaston County Court records. Johnson is accused of killing Nasir Asaad Harris by exposing him to carfentanil, a synthetic opioid that the Department of Justice says is 100 times more potent than fentanyl.
Harris died on July 30, according to court records.
Court records do not verify the relationship between Johnson and Harris. However, an obituary states that Johnson was Nasir's mother, and he died on his first birthday. Gaston County authorities have not affirmed the connection.
Johnson is being held in Gaston County jail without bond. Her next court date is on Thursday, Dec. 11.
