SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Springfield Christmas parade is set for Saturday with this year’s theme “Wrapped in Plaid,” bringing thousands of people downtown.

The parade will start at 2 p.m. on South Avenue at Elm Street. The route goes north to the downtown Springfield square, then turns east onto St. Louis Street. Local businesses say they receive a boost from the increased foot traffic during the annual event.

Tomas Huss from Gailey’s Breakfast Cafe said the parade feels like more than just a parade for local businesses.

“In some ways, it feels like we’re a part of it. We get a lot of people who come in,” Huss said. “And we also like to be a little festive too. And I’ll wear something silly or just to kind of lighten the mood. But it is very interesting being a sort of a part of the
